The honest answer
Pick Shutter+ if you shoot Canon or Fujifilm, want an iPad app, or want a mature remote with years of releases behind it and no interest in coaching.
Pick Aperi if you shoot a recent Sony Alpha, you want the remote for free, and you want a coach that reads the camera while you shoot. Aperi is in open beta and honest about what is tested: one body on the desk, the rest as marked on the compatibility list.
